About Great Plains Safety & Health Organization

The purpose of the Great Plains Safety & Health Organization is to promote safety, health and environmental responsibility by providing affordable professional education, support and advice to businesses, organizations, and individuals. The Great Plains Safety & Health Organization will assist members and nonmembers to comply with or exceed OSHA, community and internal company safety, and health  requirements. Membership in the Great Plains Safety & Health Organization is open to businesses, groups and organizations in the great plains. Benefits to membership include:

  Meet our Board Members
The Great Plains Safety Board of Directors includes representation from across the state of Nebraska. Here's an introduction to the people who make our organization possible:

Mick Anderson - Executive Director
Mr. Anderson has more than 20 years experience working with regulatory compliance issues and conducted numerous safety training classes.  Mr. Anderson is an OSHA Outreach Instructor for General Industry Standards, Construction Standards, and has received additional Safety Training certificates.  Mr. Anderson has placed great emphasis throughout his career on further developing his skills in safety and health.

Matt Boerkircher - Board Member 
Mr. Boerkircher has 20 years experience in the environmental, health and safety field.  He has worked in many areas of EHS compliance (for the regulatory side, as a consultant and in an industrial setting).  Currently, Mr. Boerkircher serves as Chief Industries’ Corporate EHS Manager in Grand Island, NE.

Brian K. Bassett - Board Member
Mr. Bassett is general partner and president of Ellerbrock-Norris Insurance in Hastings. They are a multiline independent insurance agency established in 1906. They have twenty four employees and have offices in Omaha and Kearney as well. They specialize in commercial insurance including employee benefits.

Colleen Opfer - Board Member
Mrs. Opfer has been a medical case manager registered nurse for the Alaris Group Inc. since 2005.  She works with both large and small employers to gain both a rapid and cost efficient resolution of the claim.  Prior to Alaris she has experience in providing safety training for a community college in Iowa.  Also earlier in her career Colleen was an owner and manager of a Nebraska-licensed health care agency specializing in hospice care.
 

Rick Rail - Board Member
Rick is an engineer at Dutton-Lainson Company and has worn the Safety and Environmental Compliance hats for the past 9 years.  He has been involved in workplace safety and safety training for over 30 years.  His personal agenda as a board member is to help make worker safety training available and affordable to even the smallest business.
